Abstract

This study aims to analyze the alignment of the curriculum and learning methods in the Sejarah Kebudayaan Islam MTs Kelas 7 (Islamic Cultural History for 7 Grade MTs) textbook published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs with the standards set in KMA Number 183 of 2019. This research employs a qualitative method with a library research approach, examining the content of the textbook, core competencies, and basic competencies listed. The technique used in this study is content analysis. The analysis results indicate that the textbook covers key topics such as the missionary efforts of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the advancement of Islamic civilization, and the contributions of Islamic figures, aligning with the curriculum content standards. The learning methods are holistically designed through thematic, contextual, and competency-based approaches, utilizing expository teaching, group discussions, reflection, and project-based research. Although the textbook is effective in fostering active and critical learning, it has some shortcomings, such as a lack of emphasis on the history of Islam's spread in Indonesia and local wisdom, as well as the need for improved visual quality and a more comprehensive glossary. Adding creative methods like simulations and role-playing is recommended to enhance student engagement. With further development, this textbook has the potential to become a more holistic and relevant teaching resource, supporting the achievement of curriculum goals.
